The Jewish Hospital Designated a Breast Center of Excellence

--The Jewish Hospital

Cincinnati — The Jewish Hospital has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

By awarding facilities the status of a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the American College of Radiology recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in all of the College’s voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.

The breast imaging services at The Jewish Hospital are fully accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy. Peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field, have determined that The Jewish Hospital has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs.

The Jewish Hospital has been providing mammography services for more than 20 years and screens more women in the Tristate than any other hospital or imaging center. The Jewish Hospital Mobile Mammography Program was established in 1987 and performs more than a third of the hospital’s total screening mammograms every year at corporate and community locations throughout the Tristate.

The American College of Radiology, headquartered in Reston, Va., is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians, and medical physicists with programs for focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology, as well as the delivery of comprehensive health care services.

The Jewish Hospital, founded in 1850, is a 200-bed acute care teaching hospital. Services offered include open-heart surgery, interventional cardiology, the region’s only blood and marrow transplant center, emergency, major surgery, Cholesterol & Metabolism Center, bariatric surgery, medical weight loss, mobile mammography and others.
